If you are looking for a relaxing place to visit for a long weekend away not too far from Sydney, why not try Bowral in the Southern Highlands.

There are a few nice hotels to stay at in Bowral, such as The Gibraltar Hotel, where I was lucky enough to spend a few nights away recently. A stay in one of the Superior Suites overlooking the Golf Course will see you enjoy a King Size Bed and a spacious wet room with standalone bath and rainwater shower head. Once you experience the rainwater shower head you will wish you had one at home.

Take the opportunity to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon in Harvey’s Bar where you can enjoy a drink and a performance by Geoff Harvey.

Why not take a short drive to the Bowral Lookout to see the expansive views over the Southern Highlands. Some pictures I took on my recent visit are below.

A head into town will see you taking a stroll down Bong Bong Street, where you could easily spend the whole day browsing the many shops on offer.

Diners will be spoiled for choice in Bowral but be aware that on Sunday nights most restaurants are shut. If you find yourself looking for a meal on a Sunday night, why not try a counter meal at one of the pubs in town such as the Bowral Hotel.
